The Marlborough International Jazz Festival is the largest jazz festival of its kind in Britain - this year’s dates are July 9/10/11 2010. As you probably know, the Festival generates a great atmosphere, particularly in the evenings, when venues can really start buzzing! To ensure every event runs smoothly, we need around 180 volunteer stewards. You don’t require any particular skills to qualify, all we look for are dependable and conscientious people who enjoy getting involved and helping out. Our volunteer stewards are the ‘oil’ that keeps the weekend’s wheels turning and as such have played an important part in making the Marlborough International Jazz Festival what it is - one of the world’s leading jazz events. As well as seeing the acts of your choice, when not on duty, as a steward you may also get the chance to meet the performers in person both front of house and ‘backstage’.
Don’t put it off - sign up now!
As the stature of the Marlborough International Jazz Festival grows, so do the number of applications for volunteer steward places. We strongly suggest that if you want to be involved, make your application straight away. Volunteers who sign up early will also receive special updates on festival developments and news by email.
For 2010, the volunteer steward organiser is Peter Morgan, who has been involved with stewarding for many years. Peter is on the main Festival organising committee and is able to bring Stewards’ Club members breaking Festival news directly. The Stewards’ Club is also your opportunity to tell us how we can make the stewarding more effective and, of course, more enjoyable for everyone involved. If you have any questions about becoming a volunteer steward, please contact Peter at peter@pmmbooks.com.
